Data and Evaluation Internship

Description of Internship Project and Intern’s Role and Responsibilities
The data and evaluation intern will assist the Washtenaw County Office of Community and Economic Development organize, analyze and find innovative ways to report out and share their data related to COVID-19 pandemic programs including:
- Six month extension grants from non-profit human services providers (about 40 to 50) who are providing demographics, geographic and other data on the folks they serve, as well as information generally on providing safety net services to residents.
- The Covid Emergency Relief program: we are wrapping the 2021 year, where we’ve spent more than $13 million to support county households maintain housing. There’s a rich data set of applicants, those approved—as well as landlords who benefitted. There’s a lot to learn from this data and we are seeking someone excited to dig into it and find ways to share it out effectively for us to learn from.
- We had a small funding round to non-profits who were assisting with COVID-19 response, and while we are collecting information, we have yet to analyze the data. An intern would take the lead on organizing and sharing their analysis of this funding and its impact on assisting with the COVID-19 pandemic.
- There’s some newer funding in the homelessness system through Community Mental Health that provides supportive service assistance. An intern would be responsible for organizing, analyzing, and reporting out for sharing with the homelessness team.
Time commitment (i.e., schedule, days per week needed):
We would be open to part-time or full-time work over the summer, depending on the intern’s schedule
Start date: Prefer an early June start date
End date: by August 19, flexible, depending upon part-time or full-time selection
Specific days of the week intern needs to be available: flexible
$5,000 or $10,000 depending on part-time or full-time selection for internship.
