Home About Rackham Office Directory Professional Development and Engagement Professional Development and Engagement Rackham offers opportunities, funding, and resources that prepare graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to access the wide range of careers available to them. Our Signature Programs Our Rackham professional development and engagement programs provide outlets for interdisciplinary experiential learning. Program in Public Scholarship The Rackham Program in Public Scholarship supports collaborative scholarly and creative endeavors that engage communities and co-create public goods. We believe that the work of scholars and artists can enrich civic and community life. Pursuing such work, in dialogue with the public, enriches university research, teaching, and creative expression. We support students’ academic and professional development through programs designed to cultivate the next generation of public scholars. Rackham Doctoral Internships The Rackham Doctoral Internship Program allows doctoral candidates to pursue a fully supported internship as part of their graduate training. Internships offer students a mentored experience in non-academic settings that is tailored to meet the needs of partner organizations. This initiative provides a crucial experiential learning opportunity for students, while demonstrating the value of their advanced abilities and knowledge to employers in a wide array of fields. Graduate Student Career Coaching The University Career Center has a Graduate Student Career Advancement Coordinator who meets with doctoral students in the Rackham Building for career coaching and counseling. Fall Welcome Rackham Graduate School and representatives from the University of Michigan community come together to welcome and inform incoming graduate students.
