Michigan Intercollegiate Graduate Studies (MIGS) Program Application

Apply for permission to take graduate courses at another participating university in the State of Michigan.

Graduate students who are in good standing in a degree program are eligible to elect courses at several graduate schools in Michigan with the approval of both the host and home faculty. This program for guest scholars enables graduate students to take advantage of unique educational opportunities throughout the state. Contact the graduate admissions office at your home university for a list of participating universities and MIGS liaison officers.

University of Michigan graduate students at the Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Flint campuses should use the MIGS application to enroll in courses at another U-M campus.

Enrollment for one term only and limited to two courses total (one course only per department or program).

Covered Visitors

As a renowned public university, the University of Michigan attracts a great many academic visitors each year. The use of established, formal processes helps facilitate arrangements to sponsor and host these visitors allowing them to participate in campus life and programs while they are here. The procedures and processes vary based on the nature and duration of the visit, the sponsoring unit, and other factors. Hosting units process all new and renewing Visiting Scholar applications and Visiting Graduate Student Applications independently. Wayne State University – University of Michigan Dual Registration

Students enrolled at either Wayne State University or the University of Michigan may elect a course or courses at the other institution if the course fits their program but is not available at their home institution. The student must have written approval of the department chairperson in their major area at the home college and the approval of their dean. The election must also be approved by the department which offers the course. Students desiring to participate in Wayne State University – University of Michigan dual registration should obtain the necessary forms from the Registrar’s office at each university.
