Please notify facilitators in advance if you anticipate barriers to participation.

In order to receive the Research Leadership in a Global Context Certificate, participants must:

    1. Attend ALL eight sessions of the certificate program
      1. You are required to attend ALL 8 sessions.
      2. We understand there are extenuating circumstances, but it is imperative that you attend each session as the work will continue to build on itself throughout the certificate program.
        1. If you miss a session without letting us know about the extenuating circumstances, you will be removed from the program.
        2. If you miss more than one session of the program, you will no longer be eligible to complete the certificate.
        3. Due to our capacity, the logistics, and the time spent within peer feedback groups, we are not able to offer an option for making up in-person sessions.
        4. If you are going to arrive late or need to leave a session early, you need to let the facilitators know in advance.
          1. You cannot miss more than 10 minutes of a session.
          2. Additionally, you will need to follow-up with your peer feedback group to learn what was missed while you were absent.
          3. If you need to leave abruptly during the session, please email the facilitator as soon as possible to let us know the circumstances.
        5. If there was an assignment completed during the workshop, you will be required to still complete the assignment (see item 3).
    2. The total amount of time to complete the certificate will be 16 hours in workshops and an additional eight to 10 hours outside of the workshop to complete any assignments and reflect.
      1. Total amount of time is 24 to 26 hours total
      2. One to two hours weekly outside of the in-person workshop
    3. Each week of the program, you will be required to fill out a short reflection survey to demonstrate your learning from the workshop.
      1. If you are not present when the link to the survey is shared, it will be shared via Canvas after the workshop for you to access.
    4. Follow the Community Agreement
      1. The community agreement is created together with the certificate cohort as guidelines for engaging with the group.
    5. For in-person participation: Actively participate in the workshops as best you can. Active participation ensures we learn not only from facilitators, but also from each other. This may look like:
      1. Engaging verbally and nonverbally while taking care of yourself throughout the certificate workshop.
      2. Participating in discussions within your peer feedback group.
      3. Trying to minimize distractions, especially with electronic devices needed for note-taking.
      4. Following the guidelines created within the community agreement.
