Overview of the Application Process
The application review process for admission to the Master of Arts, Master of Science, D.M.A., and Ph.D. degree programs requires applicants to work with both Rackham Graduate School and the graduate program.
Review Application Requirements
Applicant reviews Rackham Graduate School and graduate program websites for application requirements
Prepare Application Requirements
Applicant prepares application requirements: tests, statements, transcripts, etc.
Create ApplyWeb Account
Applicant creates an ApplyWeb account
Complete Application
Applicant completes application using ApplyWeb account by program deadline. After completing page five of application, applicant receives email with U-M ID
Submit Test Scores
Applicant submits official test scores to Rackham
Application File Created
Rackham retrieves ApplyWeb application to create an application file including test scores and transcripts, and sends confirmation email
Create U-M Friend Account
Applicant creates a U-M Friend Account to see the status of their application and application materials
Program Reviews Application
The graduate program reviews application materials and notifies applicant of their decision to admit or deny
Graduate Program Makes Decision
If the graduate program decides to admit, then the graduate program recommends applicant to Rackham
Rackham Reviews Application
Rackham reviews application materials for those recommended and confirms applicant meets minimum admission requirements; formal offer of admission is emailed to applicant
Applicant Accepts or Declines
Applicant accepts or declines the offer of admission in U-M Friend Account
Rackham Prepares Immigration Documents
For international students that accept offer of admission, Rackham prepares immigration documents for visas

Admissions is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The office is closed Saturdays and Sundays and on the following holidays: Thanksgiving (Thursday and the following Friday), Christmas through New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day (July 4), and Labor Day.
