Communication is the ability to effectively convey your research and scholarship to multiple audiences and in a variety of media, for example, presenting your ideas through writing, public presentations, and digital media.

King Talks
Rackham annually coordinates “King Talks,” which are graduate-student, TED-style talks related to U-M’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day theme. Through this program, graduate students publicly communicate the relevance of their work to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy.
Communicating one’s ideas effectively and clearly is an extremely crucial skill to have for achieving one’s career goals, improving self-confidence, and having better relationships at work. Participating in Rackham’s King Talks has overall enhanced my graduate school experience in more ways than I could have imagined.

Professional and Academic Development is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The office is closed Saturdays and Sundays and on the following holidays: Thanksgiving (Thursday and the following Friday), Christmas through New Year's, Memorial Day, Independence Day (July 4), and Labor Day.
