Dr. Arvind-Pal Singh Mandair

Arvind-Pal Mandair is a Professor in the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures specializing in South Asian religion and philosophy and Sikh Studies. He holds doctoral degrees in chemistry and philosophy. He retrained in the humanities following a period of social activism and work with an NGO on issues relating to human rights abuses in South Asia. While his early research focused on translation, religion-making, and secularity in colonial contexts, his current research and teaching interests are situated at the intersections of world philosophies, spirituality, and decolonial thought.
