Campus Resources

Spectrum Center

The Spectrum Center provides a comprehensive range of education, information, and advocacy services working to create and maintain an open, safe, and inclusive environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and similarly-identified students, faculty, and staff, their families and friends, and the campus community at large.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is the gateway to the people and programs that support and advance diversity at the University of Michigan and beyond.

Expect Respect

Expect Respect is an educational initiative aimed at supporting a campus climate in which all persons are treated with civility. Community members work together to strengthen the framework of support services for those who have experienced hate crimes or bias incidents.

Intergroup Relations

IGR is a social justice education program that works to promote understanding of intergroup relations inside and outside of the classroom. Multidisciplinary courses offered by IGR are distinguished by their experiential focus, teaching philosophy, and incorporation of dialogical models of communication.

Equity, Civil Rights, and Title IX Office (ECRT)

ECRT provides programs and services for faculty, staff, and students to support diversity, inclusiveness, equal access, equitable treatment, and cultural understanding and competency. ECRT provides training and consultation on achieving and supporting diversity in the workplace, on Americans with Disabilities Act issues, and on preventing and resolving discrimination and discriminatory harassment.

Student Groups

LambdaGrads

LambdaGrads provides social, educational, activist, and support activities for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, and ally graduate and professional students.

OutMD

OutMD seeks to create a safe space for LGBTQ-identified persons and allies within the medical school and to bring awareness to the disparities that LGBTQ-identified persons face in the healthcare arena as both patients and providers.

Dental Alliance for Inclusion

Alliance for Inclusion aims to educate dental students, staff, faculty, and dental professionals about lesbian, bisexual, gay, and transgender issues.

Out in Public

Out in Public is the LGBTQ and ally group at the Ford School of Public Policy. We seek to create a welcoming space for LGBTQ people at the Ford School, engage the wider Ford School community in dialogue about LGBTQ issues, and connect with other LGBTQ groups across campus. Bachelor’s students, Master’s students, Ph.D. students, faculty, and staff are all welcome.

Information Across the Spectrum

Information Across the Spectrum’s mission is to support, educate, develop, and connect a diverse group of people by using information and technology to create awareness and challenge misinformation surrounding lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, and intersex identities and expressions.

Queer Advocacy Coalition

Queer Advocacy Coalition utilizes community volunteerism and partnership with other LGBTQIA+ organizations on campus and within the community, to engage in advocacy work and educational opportunities for University of Michigan graduate and professional-level social work students.
