The Campus of Rice University
I study the evolutionary dynamics of the strains of bacteria that compete with each other. Under the supervision of Professor Matthew Bennett, in the department of the Biosciences at Rice University, I am creating novel mathematical models that can describe the evolutionary behavior of the two strains of E. Coli that are placed in a trap and use the same resources. Professor Bennett and his students provide me with experimental information that I need and walk me through the experiments so that the mathematical model that I am proposing can accurately capture the different aspects of the bacterial populations. I received the Rackham Graduate Student Research Grant for my 2-month summer study.
