Accessibility at the University of Michigan

The University of Michigan is committed to ensuring reasonable accommodations for all applicants, students, faculty, staff, visitors, and patients in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other disability-related laws and regulations for the University of Michigan.

Prospective Students with Disabilities

At any point prior to matriculation to U-M, prospective graduate students are welcome to communicate accommodation needs as they relate to the application process and/or requests for accommodation upon acceptance.

Application Accommodations

Prospective graduate students who need accommodations in applying to a Rackham program should contact the Rackham Graduate Student and Program Consultation Services team (GSPCS) at [email protected]. While some questions will be addressed by Rackham, other questions may need to be addressed and implemented at the program level. The GSPCS team will make sure the appropriate connections are made.

Campus Visit Days

Accommodations for events and campus visits for admitted students are provided by the program to which they have been admitted. Students are encouraged to contact their program directly to discuss their needs.

Once students matriculate, students who may need academic accommodations are encouraged to consult with the university’s Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) as soon as possible. Staff in SSD also serve as intermediaries and advocates for students with disabilities. SSD is part of the broader Student Accessibility and Accommodation Services (SAAS).
