Change it Up! To Stop Anti-Black Racism: Part 2, Writing Your Bystander Intervention Script Workshop

Monday, November 4, 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm EST

The Change it Up! To Stop Anti-Black Racism (CiU!ABR) program has conducted bystander intervention training workshops for the College of Engineering since 2020 and for the wider university community since the fall of 2023. Participant feedback and the overall goals of the program necessitated a second workshop where participants could continue to practice their bystander intervention skills. The Writing Your Bystander Intervention Script (WYBIS) Workshop allows participants to take a situation from their real lives, then work through intervention strategies to develop a script for the future. Participants will explore their goals for intervention, the different types of microaggressions, the impact of fight/flight/freeze, and other concepts through partner and small group discussion.

To participate in WYBIS, you must have previously attended a CiU!ABR workshop.

This workshop is designed for University of Michigan master’s students, doctoral students, and postdoctoral fellows. For faculty and staff, please contact [email protected] to see if we can accommodate your attendance.

Registration is required at https://myumi.ch/ZDN1G.

We want to ensure full and equitable participation in our events. Please let us know as soon as possible in order to have adequate time, preferably one week, to arrange for your requested accommodations or an effective alternative.
