Each year, a small number of truly exceptional dissertations completed at the University of Michigan are selected to be recognized with a ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Award. Dissertations are nominated for this highly competitive award by dissertation committee Chairs, and vetted through a rigorous review process.

Earlier this week, ten Rackham Ph.D. graduates were honored with the ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Award for their dissertations completed in 2016. Another eight students received an honorable mention. See the abstracts of the ten award-winning dissertations here: myumi.ch/a0rE3.

Rackham Graduate School Dean and Vice Provost for Academic Affairs Carol A. Fierke highlighted that “the quality and diversity of doctoral dissertations produced each year by Rackham students is key to the distinction that the University of Michigan has earned as one of the world’s great research universities. Rackham’s doctoral students contribute innovative research and scholarship at the highest level in many fields.”
Congratulations to all ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Award winners on their outstanding work!
