Ph.D. Connections Career Conference: Talking Outside Your Field—Explaining Your Research During Your Industry Job Search
Thursday, March 21, 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm EDT
Are you a Ph.D. student seeking non-tenure-track or industry jobs? Do you struggle to explain your research to non-experts? Are you worried that employers won’t see the value of your doctoral experiences? This workshop is for you! Join University Career Center Ph.D. Career Coach Tim Cavnar in an in-depth discussion of how to talk outside of your field. We’ll address these concerns, develop specific strategies, and get some much-needed practice. Ph.D. students of all levels and academic backgrounds are welcome!
Ph.D. Connections is a career conference designed to support doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows in their exploration of career paths beyond academia. Ph.D. students and postdoctoral fellows will learn about career opportunities beyond the professoriate through engaging sessions with Ph.D.s in diverse fields. The conference is co-sponsored by the University Career Center, Rackham Graduate School, and the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies at the University of Michigan Medical School.
