Valeria Bertacco, Rackham Associate Dean for Physical Sciences and Engineering, is among six recipients of this year’s Harold R. Johnson Diversity Service Award.

As an associate dean at Rackham, Bertacco organized U-M’s participation in the California Alliance Research Exchange Program, which promotes research exchanges by doctoral students from underrepresented groups. She also piloted the ReBoot Initiative, which organizes boot camp-style workshops to boost diversity in programs’ graduate applicant pools.
